BOTC is an acronym for Botswana Trade Commission. It is a parastatal of the Government of the Republic of Botswana under the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship,
What is the objective of BOTC?
The Commission is responsible for investigating and evaluating applications regarding alleged dumping, subsidized exports, or imports surges into Botswana, determine eligibility for Infant Industry Protection as well as amendment of customs duties/tariffs and recommend appropriately to the Board.

BOTC was established through BOTC Act of 2013 but started operating in 2016.

BOTC serves the business community by facilitating international trade i.e. the import and export of goods. It also engages in collaborative partnerships with the business Community in discharging its mandate.

What is the cost involved when one asks for assistance from BOTC?
All our services are currently free to our clients, but with time it would be necessary for BOTC add costs.
How does BOTC work with BURS?
BOTC advises the Government on tariff management while BURS is responsible for implementation. Currently, BOTC processes and evaluates applications for Rebate 412.11 and once approved the certificate is forwarded to BURS to facilitate the flow of goods at the borders.
What is a rebate?
These are conditional exemptions from payment of customs duties and taxes on temporarily imported goods.

Rebate 412.11 which facilitates the importation of products used to fight COVID-19.
